Cruising is when a baby takes sideways steps while holding on to furniture. It usually begins between about 9 and 12 months; the CDC lists walking while holding on to furniture as a milestone by 1 year.
What you can do
- Arrange sturdy furniture so your baby can move between pieces.
- Let your baby practise barefoot on safe floors.
- Secure furniture that could tip over.
